 Mahashivratri is a religious festival of Hindus, which is celebrated as the birth anniversary of the main deity of Hinduism, Mahadev i.e. Shiva.  The festival of Mahashivratri is celebrated on the Chaturdashi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Falgun.  On this day, Shiva devotees and people who have faith in Shiva observe fasting and especially worship Lord Shiva.

 There are some beliefs related to Lord Shiva regarding Mahashivratri.  It is believed that Lord Shankar had incarnated on this particular day in the form of Brahma's Rudra at midnight.  At the same time, it is also believed that on this day Lord Shiva opened his third eye by doing orgy and ended the universe with the flame of this eye.  Apart from this, in many places this day is also associated with the marriage of Lord Shiva and it is believed that Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati were married on this holy day.

 Although there is a Shivaratri in every month, but this Shivaratri coming on Krishna Chaturdashi of Falgun month is of utmost importance, hence it is called Mahashivratri.  In fact, Mahashivratri is the festival of worship of Lord Bholenath, when religious people worship Mahadev with rituals and get blessings from him.  On this day, a large number of devotees throng the Shiva temples, who consider themselves fortunate by worshiping Shiva.

 

 On the day of Mahashivratri, Lord Shiva is worshiped and anointed with various holy things and Bilva leaves, Datura, Abir, Gulal, Ber, Umbi etc. are offered.  Bhang is very dear to Lord Shiva, so many people also offer cannabis to him.  After worshiping after fasting for the whole day, fruit is eaten in the evening.

 It was the first Monday of the month of Shravan.  On this day Dhanishtha Nakshatra, the provider of wealth, was followed by good fortune, Shobhan Yoga, Varian and Mahashubh were formed.  There was a sum of financial benefits from fasting on this day.

 

 Second Monday: August 2 is the second Monday of the month of Shravan.  On this day, after Kritika, there is a nakshatra called Rohini Nakshatra, Vriddhi Yoga, Gar Karan and Susthira.  Moon is exalted.  The fasting of this day will give the sum of attainment of stable Lakshmi and the rise of the child side.
