The Gujarat government is considering giving health cards like Maa card to about 5 lakh employees. The initiative has been taken by the Department of Health and Family Welfare. It is learned that the Additional Chief Secretary (Health) has been called for a presentation on August 31 to discuss the matter.
It is being planned to provide cashless treatment facility to the employees instead of reimbursing the medical expenses. Deputy Secretary of Health A.A. Badi has written this letter and called for a presentation.

A plan like Maa card is being prepared for all 5 lakh employees, officers and pensioners of Gujarat government. It is planned to give the benefit of this card to government employees and their family members.

Asked about this, Health Minister and Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel said, "This is at a very primary stage." It will take time to make a final decision. Employees are currently paid Rs. 300 health allowance is given. In addition, they are given free treatment at the designated hospital. Arrangements have also been made to give them free medicines.
The deputy chief minister said a meeting with the staff would have to be held before coming to a decision. Their consent must be sought. They will also have to discuss other benefits currently being offered. Under this card, government employees and their family members get Rs. Discussions are underway to arrange free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh.
